This car was first introduced in August 2000 as a four door compact saloon with a standard FF layout( front engine, front wheel drive ). Its name in Malaysia, where it was designes is „Waja”, which means „tough as steel”, but in United Kingdom its name is „Impian”, which in Malaysian means „dream”. The used Proton Impian can be equipped with one of four available engines: a 1, 6 litre SOHC petrol plant producing 102 horsepower, accelerating the car to maximum speed of 115 mph( 185 km/h ), a 1, 6 litre DOHC four cylinder petrol unit producing 110 horsepower( maximum speed 118 mph [190 km/h] ), a 1, 6 litre sixteen valve DOHC engine producing 125 horsepower( maximum speed 122 mph [196 km/h] )or a 2, 0 litre DOHC V6 engine producing 148 horsepower( maximum speed 127 mph [205 km/h] ). Transmission of a used Proton Impian can be either a five speed manual gearbox or a four speed automatic one. As a standard equipment the used Proton Impian has multi point fuel injection and disc brakes on all wheels( but only front ones are ventilated ). When comes to the safety, the car has front airbags and ABS, while the side airbags are available as an optional feature.
